Why Jimmy Jam’s First GRAMMYs Was The "Best Night" Of His Life | Where Do You Keep Your GRAMMY?

As a five-time GRAMMY winner, Jimmy Jam — the producer known for his work with New Edition, Janet Jackson, Usher, and Mariah Carey — shares where he keeps his golden gramophones, and why his first win is the one that means the most to him.

"I never graduated high school, and I always felt bad that my mom couldn't watch me walk across the stage," Jimmy Jam recalls. He brought his mom as his date to his first GRAMMYs in 1987 — and when he and his production partner, Terry Lewis, won Producer Of The Year, it was a full-circle moment in many ways. "When I walked across that stage with the GRAMMY in my hand it was like my graduation," he adds. "My graduation in front of my mom, which was the best thing ever. The best night ever in my life."
