GRAMMYs on The Hill Awards Highlight What’s “Fair”: Premiere Of Specially Composed Advocacy Anthem

To demonstrate the songwriting process to Washington policymakers, The Recording Academy convened a special writing session in Nashville, with top-charting SESAC country songwriters Victoria Shaw and Gary Burr and a special collaborator, Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.). The three songwriters premiered the finished song, “Fair,” with a live performance at the 2014 GRAMMYs on the Hill Awards April 2 at The Hamilton in Washington, D.C.

Rep. Collins introduced the Songwriter Equity Act in February 2014. The Recording Academy was proud to support this legislation, which corrects longstanding hurdles that keep rates artificially low for songwriters both in their mechanical and performance royalties.

“Fair” is the perfect anthem for professional music makers who need – and deserve -- to make a living from their craft. Take a look.
