An Hour With Kendrick Lamar Before His 1st GRAMMY Noms

Roughly a year after Good Kid, M.A.A.D City was released, Lamar sat for this extensive interview event with DJ Skee.

DJ Skee interviews Kendrick Lamar in this nearly 1-hour event at Village Studios in Los Angeles on Sept. 26, 2013. Roughly a year after Good Kid, M.A.A.D City was released, this was before nominations were announced for the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Although Lamar didn't win that year, he was nominated in 7 categories. He went on to win his first 2 GRAMMYs the following year for "I", Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. The interview closes with Lamar's heartfelt ambition to be one of the artists whose voice "elevates the culture." That ambition continues to be fulfilled year after year.
