Cat Power fans have longed for a new release since 2012's Sun, which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200. On July 18 she announced her upcoming LP, Wanderer, will be released on Oct. 5 as well as plans to tour this fall. Today six years of patience was rewarded with the first taste of more that's in store, thanks to the release of her single "Woman" featuring Lana Del Rey.

"Folk singers, blues singers, and everything in between," she said, "they were all wanderers, and I am lucky to be among them."
Del Rey's vocals blend perfectly as Cat Power's lyric unfolds a detailed portrait of being comfortable in herself despite being misperceived by people who think they've got her all figured out. "My cage is a weapon, it's perfect for me," she sings. "It's the one suit they seem not to see."
After her first two albums, Cat Power signed with Matador and has released seven with them up to and including Sun. Respected throughout the music community for making her own music her way, whatever restraints her cage-suit might imply, it has certainly protected her authenticity.
With her latest release and collaboration, plus her upcoming tour, a whole new audience will have an opportunity to notice the many levels of Cat Power's art. For a full list of tour dates, visit her website.
