On Nov. 5, we shared that the Spice Girls, sans Victoria Beckham, would be embarking on the Spice World 2019 reunion tour in the U.K. Seems like the world's '90s-nostalgia-fueled excitement was let loose; as soon as tickets went on sale on Nov. 10, millions of fans rushed to purchase tickets, with demand so high that four more dates were added to the originally six-date tour that same day.

"Demand for Spice Girls was off the chart. They have smashed through Ticketmaster UK's records becoming the busiest ever sale," said Andrew Parsons, Ticketmaster UK's Managing Director, via the Independent. "There were millions of people on our site searching for tickets, with a queue at one point of well over 700,000."
The original announcement included six dates across the U.K. in June 2019 for the reunion tour, with two more shows each added in both Manchester and London. No dates outside of the U.K. have been set yet, although the high demand for the Spice Girls upbeat, pop-powered brand of empowerment points to global tour dates being very likely in the future. As Parsons points out, based on ticket sales, "they could have played nearly every night for a year."

The same day that Geri Horner, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Emma Bunton—aka Ginger Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice and Baby Spice—almost broke the internet with ticket sales, they also announced their "I Wanna Be A Spice Girl" campaign to support "girl power"—or "people power" as Bunton recently corrected, in action. They will be donating 100% of proceeds from limited-edition apparel emblazoned with #IWANNABEASPICEGIRL to U.K.-based charity Comic Relief to specifically support the organization's gender equality work.
"It's people power. We're about equality and bringing everyone together," Bunton said.
