Rodgers gives a complete rundown on the details that led to his recent surgery, removing a cancerous mass from his right kidney, which contained two separate cancers. "My prognosis is 100 percent recovery. You can start dancing, singing and cheering now!" wrote the GRAMMY winner.
It was 40 years ago that Rodgers got on a roll with Chic's "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" — his first GRAMMY nomination. The following year, his work on Sister Sledge's We Are Family saw him nominated again. His list of transformational recordings for established artists includes many more than David Bowie and Madonna, and it reached a wonderful peak at the 56th GRAMMY Awards when he won 3 along with Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams and iconic songwriter Paul Williams.
An outstanding humanitarian, Rodgers and his We Are Family Foundation raised $1 million for charity last year at an event honoring Bono and President Jimmy Carter. Bono added his signature to the guitar Rodgers played with Lady Gaga on stage at the 58th GRAMMY Awards' tribute to David Bowie. It sold at auction for $100,000.
