As if we had any reason to doubt, Kacey Musgraves is still following her own musical arrow.
The latest proof comes in the form of a pair of new delights, "Butterflies" and "Space Cowboy," marking the first official taste of tuneage from her forthcoming studio album, Golden Hour.

Co-written with Natalie Hemby and Luke Laird, "Butterflies" has been a staple of Musgraves' live shows for the past year, typically performed unplugged. The studio version showcases a fully produced arrangement for the breezy number, complete with fluid harmonies, piano and a rigid backbeat.

Though "Butterflies" radiates with shiny optimism, the heart-wrenching "Space Cowboy" treads along the opposite of the relationship spectrum. "You can have your space, cowboy, I ain't gonna fence you in," Musgraves introspectively sings amid pedal steel licks and ambient effects.

Due March 30, Golden Hour was tracked above a horse stable at fellow GRAMMY winner Sheryl Crow's house. The album is now available for pre-order.
In the meantime, Texas native Musgraves is scheduled to head out on the road with Harry Styles in June. She is currently on tour with GRAMMY winners Little Big Town.
