The singer/songwriter/guitarist's hospitalization has forced Dead & Company to cancel tonight's show at New Orleans' Smoothie King Center. Mayer has been touring with the group, comprising Grateful Dead founders Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann along with Mickey Hart, who joined the Grateful Dead in 1967, among others

"All tickets for the Dec. 5 show will be honored for the rescheduled date," the band said in a press statement announcing Mayer's hospitalization. "Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase."

Other shows currently scheduled for this week — Dec. 7, in Orlando, Fla., and Dec. 8, in Fort Lauderdale — have not been cancelled at this time and will apparently go ahead as planned, though it is unclear whether Mayer will have recovered in time to perform.
