Speaking with Variety, Jones described his ambitions for "The Van Jones Show" to satisfy his yearning "for the voice of ordinary people to be heard," and there will be plenty to cover in the months ahead. During the initial installment with Jay-Z, Jones will start out on the right foot to "discuss their shared activism and explore the themes of … 4:44, ranging from racial and social issues to financial knowledge and responsibility," according to  Roc Nation.

In addition to addressing how Jay-Z's album's themes resonate, Saturday's CNN conversation will amplify what is going on with music and music videos and how the art form is confronting many aspects of life that are deeply challenging.
