James Bay made a name for himself on with his 2015 debut LP, Chaos And The Calm. The English singer/songwriter plans to return with a brand-new album in 2018, and if his early hints at the forthcoming record's sound are to be believed, he'll trade in much of his trademark ambient guitar melodies and sultry alt-pop crooning for new energetic textures and "loud f***ing noises."

"It definitely takes it to a new place. I've got a new look, a new sound," the GRAMMY-nominated singer told NME this past weekend at the MTV EMAs. "I just fancied a new chapter."

Bay went on to reveal that he's been listening heavily to artists such as Frank Ocean, David Bowie, LCD Soundsystem, Chance The Rapper, and Lorde, and elements of their sounds have begun to infiltrate his songwriting.

"All of these sounds that don't really relate to the first album but hugely relate to this album," he explained. "I’m really excited for people to hear that."

Details regarding the new album's title and release date are still forthcoming, but Bay has also revealed that a new collaboration with GRAMMY-winning pop songsmith Rod Stewart is "coming out soon."
