Dec. 6 was a somber day for Dolly Parton, when her younger brother Floyd Parton passed away at the age of 61. On Dec. 11 the country legend shared a touching message on Twitter in his honor, writing: "Dolly, and the entire Parton Family, wish to thank everyone for their kindness. Yesterday, we laid our sweet baby brother to rest."

Floyd was a country music songwriter and most famously wrote two of his older sister's big hits; 1978's "Nickels and Dimes" and her GRAMMY-nominated 1991 duet with Ricky Van Shelton, "Rockin' Years." He was the second youngest child of the 12 Parton siblings. His cause of death is not revealed.
Dolly shared how the whole family celebrated his life by joining together in song:
"We all sang his lovely song, 'Rockin' Years,' together as a family at the service to say goodbye to him. He lived a short life of love and beautiful songs."

The country icon also let her fans know they can celebrate Floyd with a donation in his honor to the My People Senior Activity Center in Tennessee.
The star herself will be celebrated for her boundless impact on the music world and her countless charitable endeavors on Feb. 8, 2019 as MusiCares the 2019 Person Of The Year gala in Los Angeles, two nights before the 61st GRAMMY Awards.
