About Wizkid
Wizkid has become one of the most influential figures in the global rise of Afrobeats, celebrated for his smooth vocal delivery, minimalist melodies, and effortless fusion of Afrobeats, R&B, dancehall, and pop. After breaking through with “Holla at Your Boy” and the album Superstar, he expanded his international reach with projects like Made in Lagos, which featured the worldwide hit “Essence” alongside Tems — a track widely credited with helping Afrobeats gain sustained mainstream radio success in the United States. Wizkid’s collaborations with artists including Drake, Beyoncé, and Chris Brown elevated his profile globally. To date, Wizkid has won one Grammy Award for Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl,” his collaboration with Beyoncé, at the 2021 Grammys; he counts six Grammy nominations total. Known for his laid-back yet emotionally resonant sound, Wizkid helped popularize a softer, atmospheric style of Afrobeats that influenced a new generation of artists across Africa, Europe, and North America. Today, Wizkid is considered a defining force in contemporary African music.
