- Born Christopher Francis Ocean on Oct. 28, 1987, in Long Beach, California
- Frank Ocean's debut solo album, 2012's Channel Orange, hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The album's debut single, "Thinkin Bout You," was his first to crack the Top 40, peaking at No. 32.
- At the 55th GRAMMY Awards in 2012, Ocean earned his first career GRAMMYs for Best Urban Contemporary Album (Channel Orange) and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("No Church In The Wild," with The-Dream, Jay Z and Kanye West).
- Ocean studied at University of Louisiana at Lafayette for one semester in fall 2005. Thereafter, he dedicated himself to a career in music.
